little faith

I’m alive! After a series of photoshoots that failed to get off the ground, I was fortunate enough to be able to collaborate with Calista and Nik in April. I had worked with Nik during my last shoot with Rachel and she was awesome enough to be the MUA once again, even on fairly short notice! Calista is one of those models whose work I have been following for quite some time and it was amazing to finally be able to shoot with her.

This project fell on a day that was a perfect example of how crazy the weather in Victoria can be. It started out incredibly sunny with blue skies and only a few clouds lingering in the distance. By the end of the first outfit, the clouds had rolled in and the light was hazy. During the wardrobe change, it started to rain and then it REALLY started to rain while we were shooting. We decided to try and do one more outfit in the woods… and then the rain stopped. The sun started to come out again so we enthusiastically went for another look, discovering an enormous patch of yellow grass that was as tall as our shoulders. We were all dumbfounded by the location (the grass had not looked nearly that tall in the distance) and I had way too much fun weaving my way through the grasses. Nik made crop-circles in the field while Calista and I shot.

Despite the weird weather, this shoot was brilliant and the pictures that I took in the grass are some of my favourites in my entire portfolio. I know that I have already sung my praises of Nik, but I’m going to do it again! Both of these ladies were so wonderful to work with and I look forward to collaborating with them again in the future. They are such kind and passionate people. Even when the weather got bad, they kept going.
