peaceful ruins

these are the pictures from my shoot in hawaii last february. lilinoe was the first model i ever shot with whom i was not already friends with, so i was pretty nervous. she responded to my casting call on modelmayhem and drove an hour to the resort where i was staying so that we could work together! i am so glad that she did as it turned out to be a really great experience that built my confidence as a photographer.

it was a very hot, very windy day. i had chased my parents out of the condo that we were renting in order to have a base of operations for the shoot. lilinoe and i wandered around the gardens surrounding the complex and explored the rocky cliffs. there were these little shelters constructed of stones scattered along the edge of the cliff. as lilinoe huddled within one of them, i balanced on some very unstable rock piles, relying largely on the force of the wind to keep me from falling to my doom. we shot until the sun started to disappear. my arms were so tired from holding my new camera that i could barely lift them at dinner!
